These past few months have been difficult for everyone, us included. At Baldwin Audio/Visual Solutions, we jumped full speed into looking at how we could evolve our services and make sure our clients could keep hosting events. Our team’s innovation and hard work have allowed us to continue serving clients through this difficult time. As live event professionals, we were amongst the first sectors affected and will be amongst the last to get fully back into the in-person swing of things post-pandemic.
For these reasons, and more, we’re participating in The Day of Visibility for the Live Event Community!
Today, an hour after sundown, we are asking technicians, suppliers and venues across the country to light up live events in red – raising awareness for an industry that is still dark. Organizations, grassroots groups and individuals are coming together to ask and assist with illuminating landmarks in red, bringing to light the many performers, creators, technical, logistical, and management support personnel who drive a $100 billion Canadian economic engine.
The effect of shutting down a $100 billion industry in Canada will have unimaginable impacts on both companies and individuals. Already, the vast majority of live event workers have been out of work or on government support since March, and with no end in sight…
- The arts, entertainment, and recreation sector lost 152,000 jobs between June 2019 and 2020 with 86% of businesses being impacted by the decrease and cancellation of services
- Those that have remained employed have seen a 45% reduction in hours worked
- The corporate/business events sector also employs an additional 229,000 Canadians affected by these changes
