A webcast is simply a media-based presentation delivered online — think of it as “internet broadcasting”. You’re probably already familiar with webcasts in the form of radio, TV, and internet stations that provide streams of their content. These streams are usually live and often surround an event. However, webcasting is also used to a great extent in professional settings.

Webcasting is highly popular and very convenient for presentations that are more one-way (i.e. where the attendees do not interact with the presenter). Some use cases for this type of setup include presentations to stakeholders, organizational communications, live events and learning seminars — anything you might want to be streamed really! These communications could be internal or external, delivering relevant updates, and/or letting people know about promotional efforts/social events.

Webcasting is a little bit different than other online-based casting services like web conferencing (which we also cover!) or podcasting which is simply made available online. Although both webcasting and web conferencing are live in nature, the idea with conferencing is that there’s an interaction element. Stay tuned as we’ll be exploring our webcasting service offerings and all the benefits they bring!
